Recently a lot of people have been asking me about the situation in Vietnam, particularly about its Online market.
There is no doubt that the interest for Vietnam market is increasing. However, the lack of reliable information is still a major hurdle. While the government is still very busy trying to handle the sky high inflation rate and other economic issues, I will try to keep you posted on new developments in Vietnam as much as i could.
For today, it’s about the expansion plan that Yahoo kicked start in local market.
Yahoo TV Ads are seen in Vietnam
From my sources, it looks like Yahoo received the license to operate in Vietnam. Yet we are not sure if they are going to open just a representative office or a private limited company etc…
Yahoo TV ads are seen across multiple TV stations in Vietnam as well, accordingly to local audiences.
Yahoo Panama is available in SEA.
Yahoo Panama, the platform for Search Marketing by Yahoo, is available in SouthEast Asia on 29th Apr 2008 (soft launch) and that means advertisers can use Panama to target Vietnamese consumers now. However, one major issue is right now Panama does not support local language.
This is detrimental for markets like Vietnam, Thai, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Yahoo 360 is going to be replaced by Yahoo 360 plus.
Yup, it looks that way now. On Yahoo Vietnam Homepage, we can see the logos for Yahoo 360 plus. It looks like Yahoo is finally going to fix the second hottest properties they have in Vietnam. So much complaints have been raised since Yahoo! 360 is going to be closed worldwide but it happens to be the most popular blogging platform in Vietnam.
That should be all for now.
Cheers,
Chandler
P.S: Sydney is still missing….
Here is an example of the TV commercials that Yahoo is running on Vietnamese TV channels.
